Hi all, thought i'd post one.
I should like to abandon myself
Upon the craggy rock. Take stock
Of artificial life and light, then
Darken my parameters, for a year
Or so.
Scan harsh seas, at breakfast, lunch
And tea, adjust my Souwester, yellow
In its circumstance, as yellow as can be.
As well,
I’d take quite seriously the lone man’s
Approach to being. Perhaps keep a dog
To polish off corned beef hash, a parrot
To laugh at,
Or with, or against. Perhaps I’d go mad
With the responsibility of mezzanine flooring,
Gearless pedestal turnings and of photo electric
Cells sensing the daylight arriving, perhaps!
I’d leave just once that year, to collect fuel
From gnarled fingered fishermen, wise to
The capacity of break tanks and the like.
More to the point;
I’d maybe save some lives, whilst reading
Endlessly.

A very nice one K.
Reading it did leave me a little puzzled till near its end, since inside the post there was no title to the poem.
Of course the posting did have a title that explained all - Lighthouse - but I had forgotten that when I was reading it !! And in the end it certainly comes across strongly to me as a true Grimsby poem !

Thanks Clare.
I guess it is a Grimsby type poem.
I appreciate the reply, not exactly a buzzing forum is it! (that's not a derogatory comment) I would love to see a thriving local poets forum!
Shame really, is it a case that there are so few poets in Grimsby and the surrounding areas?
Or they don't indulge in forums, as they're too snotty?
Or people just can't find the website?
Or other stuff?

Yes K, I wish there were more posters here.
I believe that this website gets about 100 visitors a day, and at least half visit this forum. Maybe most think a degree is need to post here, though any posts from anybody are very welcome !!
But other lincolnshire forums also seem to have few posters. Maybe many people are wary of the internet since it can bring problems to some occasionally ?
Digiwizz,
