Dear John
My dearest John, I love you, but I have to let you go.
You deserve much more than I can give and I need for you to know,
that I love each thing about you, I adore your nightly snoring
I even grew to love the fact that you were deeply boring.
I loved your fond opinion that you were always right,
I loved you when you cheated on me on our wedding night.
I loved your D.I.Y skills and the endless jobs you botched,
the football, tennis, rugby, golf and cricket that we watched.
I'll miss your nasty temper and your bolshie attitude,
the way you'd sit for hours in a filthy, stinking mood.
I'll miss so much the life we shared, the little things we'd do,
I'll miss the 30 second **, but not as much as you.
I hope you'll find somebody else who'll love you as you are,
I never did deserve you, and I hope that you'll go far.
Don't think too badly of me, or miss me when I'm gone.
You're better off without me,
with all my love, dear John

a humorous verse
I have written poetry since childhood(most of which went in the bin), but recently started reading at open mike nights at my local. I have just published a (very short) book of 11 poems and have written childrens stories for my grandson, Tyler.

Adam, thankyou for the comments on 'Dear John'. It was written as one poem, but wouldn't all go on one post so had to be sent in 2 halves. Luckily the PS came in the right place! Ottakers in Lincoln have copies of my book, or The Jolly Brewer pub on Broadgate in Lincoln sell them for me too. They are £2 in the Brewer and £2.99 in Ottakers (as they have added their own cut on). I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it- it's a bit nerve wracking sticking stuff out there for everyone to look at and it's nice to know people do read it, x val (amity)
