SUCH THOUGHTS, AS THESE, ARE CHILDISH,
THAT DREAMS WILL ALL COME TRUE.
AND THAT EVERYTHING THAT’S WISHED FOR,
SHALL BE BROUGHT ON IN TO YOU.
THE NAIVETÉ, OF YOUTH, IT GOES,
AND YOU REALISE INSIDE.
THAT THE ONLY WAY, TO REAP SUCCESS,
IS TO PROVE YOU’VE REALLY TRIED.
YOUR WORK, IT IS YOUR GOLDMINE,
COMMON SENSE, YOUR ONLY FRIEND.
YOUR SPENDING IS YOUR DOWNFALL,
FOOLISHNESS, YOUR END.
FOR A FOOL AND HIS MONEY,
OR SO THE PROVERB SAYS,
ARE SO QUITE EASILY PARTED,
THROUGHOUT HIS LIVING DAYS.
SO I THINK I UNDERSTAND NOW,
FROM THIS, WORLD I AM NOT OWED,
BUT ACHIEVEMENT IS WITHIN MY GRASP,
IF I TAKE THE PROPER ROAD.
I TAKE A LOOK INTO THE MIRROR,
A GROWN MAN RETURNS MY GLANCE,
HE WINKS AND SMILES AND TELLS ME,
LEAVE NOTHING DOWN TO CHANCE.
I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS GOOD OR BAD. THANKS.
RYBO75.

Re: The Hard Road
Hi Rybo,
I do like your 'The Hard Road' though it reads to me as a tadge cynical and rigid maybe.
It is of course saying something that is chiefly very true, though occasional luck and opportunity can also sometimes impact anybody's life.

Re: The Hard Road
I like the last verse especially, very wry. the rest does seem somewhat, not cynical, but disillusioned maybe. But that is to be expected from anyone who has a poetic streak and has lived in our world for a while. thumbs up.
