England football team

Post by Clare »

OK the England football (or soccer) team could not get into the top 16 Eurorean clubs for Euro 2008, so what really needs to be done to improve things ?

Who would be a good manager, and good assistent, and can or will they be hired ?

And should some of the big name but small performance players be dropped ? What younger players should be brought in ?

How can the England football team really be improved ?

Really theres only one option, cut back on foreign players and give our guys the chance to get plenty of experience. so when it comes to championships we have plenty of options and plenty of in game tactical knowledge.[/b]

Hi Enigma,

Well blaming foreign players for the decline of the England football team is certainly the popular answer these days. But England's decline seems to date from around 1966, and not from around 1990 when the increase in foreign football players in England really began.

I believe that the real problem is football scouting in England. A few weeks ago Harry Redknapp asked "where are the estate kids ?" And the answer is playing on the estates that none of our cowardly football scouts will visit. But the estates are where the best kids football is played in England.

English football scouts stick to scouting school football only, but kids of poor and minority families are excluded from schools and from school football teams. They are the kids with the real football passion and fire that English football needs, but are ignored by our awful footbal scouts !

English football really needs better scouting, but that issue is being ignored. Until we get better scouting buying-in poor foreign kids from Africa and South America seems the only other practical way to keep up Premiership football standards ?!

Well new England manager Capello has announced the latest England squad.
Few surprises in it, though it does include in-form Theo Walcott. Maybe he will actually get to play this time, and maybe give England some needed extra attacking pace ?

Yes I do agree Adam. Capello certainly needs to bring on some good younger players if he is to get England doing any real good - and Walcott is one of the best prospects.

Well Euro 2008 has finished. Some very good football from a few teams, and I think that Spain won it deservedly.

It certainly showed a lot more passionate football than our England team has been producing.

Capello has maybe not yet shown what, if anything, he can do to improve things for the England team.
Hopefully he can either liven-ip our lazier players, or bring on good younger players ?
GrimDad hey
