Many a housewife with growing children, not having worked for years, decides at some point to get back to work.
And many will decide to prepare themselves for a return to work as maybe an office receptionist, typist or secretary.
Of course these jobs now nearly always involve using a computer - most firms have thrown out those old typewriters !! So the housewife preparing for a return to work will often need to start with a basic computer-use course - and some may be available free in this case.
A good little teach-yourself book to help with this is CGP's Using a Computer (Clait unit 1). And then you might be best moving on to their Word Processing (Clait unit 2) and their Electronic Communication (E-mail and Internet use - Clait unit 3).
That should be enough for many office jobs - and is not too difficult, needing only some time and practice eg. on a public library computer ?!
Back to Work.

Yes a computer course is a good idea, and you may be able to get one free at Grimsby College or the Freeman Street Resource Centre.
These classes are OK but they may be slow hard work for some, who a little 1-to-1 computer training might help a lot. I see that this website's PC Learning section is offering reasonable 1-to-1 computer training that looks good ?
