Film and TV - Vampires and Sci-Fi

As there is no special Film or TV section on this forum, I suppose they should mostly come under General Discussion - but really everything links together to some extent and there are some good songs in some films and some TV so one or two film/TV posts here seems OK !

Have you noticed that lately there has been lots of Vampire TV series ? Some years back there used to be a lot of vampire films made. It seems that when they stopped making new vampire films, the Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV series started lots of vampire TV to fill the gap ?!

I guess we all just love a bit of blood. Or maybe the human race really evolved from vampires ?

Hi Clare,

It is funny you should mention the subject of vampires. In the trilogy that my friend and I have writing we have a race of beings that are very much akin to vampires. We called them 'Vampriee' and they extract the brain patterns out of the people they capture. They are only one of many alien races within the three stories.

The books are now finished and our agent sent them off to a list of publishers and the following: Hodder, Penguin and Headline have all requested to read the full manuscript.

We are working on a fourth book at the moment. They are all Science Fiction.

Hi John. I think it is great that you are writing science fiction - my favourite subject. Writing with a friend also seems an interesting idea.

Maybe you could post a short extract on here as a taster ? I would certainly like to see a bit of it, and later when you get published you could tell us how to buy a copy !

Hi Clare,

I've placed the synopsis that I sent to the agent to let him know what the book was about, and I've also added the first two chapters. They are posted on my short story list.

A great post that John. Science Fiction has certainly become very popular in writing, in film and in TV. Maybe it offers some tiny hope against the narrow predictability of our actual world these days ?
