MARTYR LOGIC

By ROBERT DAVIDSON

Sense of guilt
As traitor to the faith

The ultimate smart bomb
Strapped to my body
Maximises the loss of life
Bursts open the double-decker bus
And rips the roof off

Would I make amends?
Testify my faith?

I have been tempted
Deliberately destroying my soul
The Devil’s Playground was what they called the Western World

I am to die by direct violence, becoming Shaheed!
72 houri waiting - I detonate my life

Infernos of twisted steel
Burning flesh
And pulverized glass!

He was a good man, quiet!

Hi Robert. An interesting poem, but I'm not sure if I am reading it right as the opposite position to your anti-war poem or maybe a not-sure poem ?
