Beware the Gorillaphant (fort kids)

Post by K »

Whilst bouncing across my garden, the sun high in the sky
I happened upon a Gorillaphant, tears welling in each eye.
He said to me in trumpet-whoop: Oi young fellow all pinkly-red
What say you about my nose; do you think it suits my head?

Now honesty, so says my mum, is the way to get along.
So I mentioned quite truthfully; his head was flat, his nose too long.
Yet more than that I did pursue, his silver back and flapping ears
His hairy arms and swishing tail dangling from his rear.

Alas, his tears turned into waterfalls, flooding the petunias.
Honesty had let me down, yet slightly more peculiar;
The Gorillaphant looked just like me, plump and pinkly-red,
And with mirrored sneer he bounced on straight ahead,

Into my house, into my bath and right into my bed.

Cheers GD, appreciated.

Why isn't this forum rocking with Grimbarian poets? Perhaps because there aren't many? Gauntlet thrown down!

Personally I think it could do with a redesign? It's very DIY and not very visually appealing, no offence, I'd love to see it work.

K,

I don’t know why it is that poets and writers don’t join the site, for I know that a large group meet in the town library. Perhaps if someone could place a notice in the library informing people of the site we may get more people submitting.

I have a notice in the Gainsborough library about my writing group and I get at least one person aweek making enquires.

As for you Gorillaphant, here is one about my nelephant

CHILD TALK

I wish I had a nana
With a lovely leller skin
I’d give it to my nelephant
Who’s looking very fin.

I feed him wif a napple
That I’d cut up into four
Then take him round to grocers
To stand at his front door.

We’d look at all the noranges
My new found friend and me
Then both go home to mover
To have an ice-cream tea.

Ha ha nice one John, child/unwin talk.

Perhaps if someone could place a notice in the library informing people of the site we may get more people submitting.

That's sounds like a good idea.

PS Mr designer, I didn't mean to sound pompous. I'm sure you did a grand job at the time, but the site does seem a little outdated now!

I wouldn't mind helping out with a redesign - no cost - obviously it would have to be in my spare time.

I helped out with this site, http://www.poetsgraves.co.uk basically I just designed the header, but it is a nice clean site, which I think this site is lacking.

cheers

Hi K, thanks for the offer. I have looked at that website and do like its general design, though I am less impressed with its forum design.

I am looking at the design of this website and of this forum, and though my time is limited I am hoping to come up with some improvements soon.
I will look forward to your further comments then.

No problem, don't want to step on your toes.

Re the forum design, it's the same as this one, phpBB, are you planning to change it? Do you find it limiting?

Also here's a link to my own poetry website (under the obligatory construction) just a personal site, won't have a forum or anything that requires time!

Well K, I have just done a slight restyle of the website here - including product pages and foreign language pages. A major problem with foreign language versions of an English web page is that when you translate a short English phrase the result is generally longer !

I am mostly OK with my phpBB2 forum and Agoracart store - but both can be quite tricky to customise. I hope to change the background colour of the forum this weekend, though I could not get a background image to work properly.

I looked at your under construction site and it certainly looks very promising, though I did not try your audio !
