I seem to see lots of parents buying their kids the Playstation games and the fashionable toys that the kids are obviously asking for.
Almost no parents seem to buy any educational stuff that would really help their children ?
Maybe parents now think their kids today know better than they do, and so let their kids decide their buying ? If so then their kids are really bringing themselves up (in the most senseless way?). Maybe kids today do know better than their parents, but I think not.
I think most parents, like schools, are just going along with their kids to avoid argument and have an easy life ?! But kids bringing themselve up cannot do a good job of it - parents and schools need to sometimes lead and not just follow their kids, for the kids good !!

True GrimDad, but I do think that kids today live in a world very different to when we were kids.
Parents today imagine that schools are still telling the truth, when they now tell them all their children are doing fine even if they are learning nothing.
Maybe grandparents should be saying not to believe schools unless kids are getting As ?!

Yes Clare, it is easy for parents to go with their child doing 'average' if the school says that is doing fine !
Getting A for effort means nothing - that is the easy teacher lie meaning only reasonable behaviour.
These days the average child certainly gets exam As if they try at all !
And these days exam 'average' often means AWFUL !!
Adam, champion.

Well Adam, these days almost the only kids getting educated properly seem to be teachers' children. They do buy their own children educational stuff and encourage their learning. If teachers tell other parents not to worry, then their own children will face little competition in getting the best careers !!
