Supporting football teams!
Plenty of people support football clubs, or as Americans wrongly call them Soccer clubs.
Some who support Grimsby Town FC also support Arsenal FC, so here we give a little key info on Arsenal which like any team has its good years and not so good years.
Arsenal Football Club !
Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886 as 'Dial Square' but soon renamed 'Royal Arsenal' a factory work team from Woolwich, southeast of London.
'The Woolwich Royal Arsenal' had been a major British government arms and ammunition manufacture and research factory since the 17th century, and at a wartime peak around 1915 it employed about 80,000 workers !
So it was a quite big factory when its football team was formed.
The 'Royal Arsenal' team was renamed 'Woolwich Arsenal' in 1893 and joined England's Football League Second Division and were promoted to the top First Division in 1904 but financial problems saw them liquidated and reformed that year and in 1910 they were again liquidated and reformed and in 1913 relegated
to the Second Division and moved to Highbury Stadium in North London and were renamed 'The Arsenal' in 1914 and 'Arsenal' in 1919 when they
rejoined the First Division. Basicly the Woolwich area then did not have a big enough population to support a professional football club, but North London did.
Support the best English football team !
Arsenal are the English football team to have been longest continuously in the top division, from 1919 to date !
Arsenal are also the English football team that has won the most FA Cups !
And they are the only top-division English football team to have gone a whole football season without losing a game !
(But before multiple divisions started in 1892, Preston North End had an unbeaten season in England's Football League 1888-89 first season.)
And the present 2022/23 football season sees Arsenal once more going all out to end the season as England's top football club !
